MisaelK's track is the perfect Polybius...ballad? MIND MALFUNCTION was an absolute journey, and OMNI's sound design captured the spirit of Polybius wonderfully.

Okay there's so many tracks that are amazing that I can't vote for. SHOUT OUT TO ALL OF YOU for coming and composing with me for the last 470 or so compos. This is nothing without you all. So many names of people who come every week and I listen to all of your tracks and I love hearing them all grow and develop and it's so great to be able to be a part of this magnificent community.

Special shout out to starla and rama for keeping the shop up and running for so many years driven purely by a love of music and the community and encouraging artists to grow.

Thanks everyone so much for taking ONE HOUR out of your week to spend with me! It's so wonderful to have you and here's to five hundred more THIS WEEK'S THEME in ONE HOUR COMPO.

First two were pretty easy, third place was REALLY hard to decide.

Also especially liked coral, A-zu-ra, dusthillguy, daisu64.

Nice to see everyone again <3

    GreyHooves
Again, GreyHooves is really upping his game. Conceptually as well as in execution, this was a really strong entry. The decelerando at the end was perfect.

Zovi's direct answer to the theme is a very strong contender.

And once more, I wonder why Starla is bothering with this when she could be making so much money in the club circuit...

Honestly, there were a lot of very strong entries this week, and there were some entries I personally liked more than who I voted for, but my votes go to those that fit the theme best, and my interpretation of the theme includes these qualities: dark, weird, mysterious, and still enjoyable to listen to

Yeah man, #thasauce is the BEST! Everyone is really nice and the music is always fantastic.

Shitbird
Cocking! This is short, but cool. Nice authentic NES sound.

JH Sounds
It makes me happy to hear you reading a compo intro again, just like in the old days. I hope you'll be taking part in more compos.

ophanin
Really good sounds and production. This is professional quality. Big respect for this fine work.

hoboka
I like the choice of sounds, I'm a big fan of SNES music and I appreciate your choice of samples.
This has a really great atmosphere. I think it fits the theme well.

Ironpug
Cool sounds. Great atmosphere.
Heh, the 'cumshot' meme reference at the end.
But anyway, I appreciate the atmosphere in this. This fits the theme. (of course I'm not really in a position to criticise anyone for not fitting the theme, I just take note when a song fits the theme well.)

Koekepan
I like the 'feeling' in this song. I like the fairly relaxed mood.
This music makes me think of low budget 1970s science fiction films. I mean something like Dr. Who. It wouldn't be out of place in something like that.
I will say that some of the volume levels could do with a bit of adjustment. But anyway this is cool.

A2Z
This is like a mid-late 90s science & technology TV show opening theme, especially the ending of the song.
I like it. I like the mood as well, and the sounds are good. The volume balance is good.

esperado
This is very short, but, cool sounds. I like the mood & atmosphere.

A-zu-ra
I like how cheerful this is. Also it's vaguely anime sounding.
Cool sounds.

Zovi
Whoah... this is a bit avant-garde (not that that's a bad thing). It's got an interesting atmosphere/feel to it. It's very tense. Cool ending.

TestUser472
This is some serious beatmix stuff. Hardcore trance. It's interesting, the bass instrument patch sounds a lot like a ground loop with some filters applied. I thought that was cool.

Hallow
Cool style and unique sounds. I like it, although I'm not keen on the sudden volume change halfway through.
I like the percussion.

1f1n1ty
Ah man penis, big penis, this is really nice. Really cool sounds & atmosphere. This would work well as background music for a water-themed level in a game.

OMNI
oh shit... wow, around halfway in, the sounds get really interesting. It creates an interesting atmosphere. This is actually really cool.

sci
This is pretty unique sounding.
I'm not sure, but I think this uses microtones. I do remember you using microtones in previous compo entries, like 'red rarity' that I liked a lot.
Cool stuff.

Misael.K
Heheheheh, nice singing.
I recognise that it takes a lot of skill to come up with lyrics and sing/record/mix everything in such a short time, in addition to composing the music.
Around a third of the way in, you have your normal singing overlaid with a more silly/high pitched kind of singing with reverb on it, and I thought that sounded really cool.
(I have to say 'a third of the way in' because I don't know the specific time it happens because the new thasauce site design doesn't tell you the minute/second time position of the songs as you're listening to them)
The backing track is really well made. This is a very well made entry.
Cool song.

Arcana
Cool intro!
SHIT yes! Nice!
I like the feel of this song. Great sounds, great mood.
The percussion is really cool.
Unfortunately, the lead instrument that starts at about (1 / 4.25) of the way into the song, that plays through the right headphone/speaker, and plays until about (1 / 2.85) into the song, is pretty loud and also a bit harsh to listen to.
I like almost everything else about how the song sounds.
But yeah, I really like the mood & atmosphere of this song.
The outro of the song, starting at about (1 / 1.16), is really cool. The mood there is really great.

Coral
Heheheheheheheheh, great intro, you got the 'raving lunatic' sound down pretty well.
The music is cool, the sounds and atmosphere fit the theme of the compo, as well as the theme of the song as well (the 'mind malfunction' and general craziness).
The percussive sounds around the last quarter of the song are really cool.

Starla
Cocking! The backing track is really catchy. Really cool percussion and percussive sounds. Really well produced, especially considering the time limit. The vocals work really well with the song. The sounds of the song, and the vocoders mixed with the vocals, give it a real techno feeling, which fits well with the theme of the song. I like this a lot.

daisu64
Oh shit, cool mood/atmosphere in the intro. I like the arps. Cool use of the chip sounds. When the song really gets going about halfway in, the mix of the synths with the chip sounds works well. This sounds really cool. Cool composition. I like this a lot, I wish it was longer.

DDRKirby(ISQ)
As always, extremely well produced and professional sounding. Holy shit, the part with the game sound effects, that's pretty cool.
The mood of this song is good.

NickC
shit! oh shit, this is nice! The mood is really good, and the sounds work well with the technological theme of the compo. It has a very 'techno' feel to it. Really nice, just wish this was a bit longer, maybe 30 seconds to a minute extra would really cock it up to the maximum level. Cool song.

johnfn
FUCK, whoah, the atmosphere and emotional feeling in this song is really strong. Really nostalgic sounding.
The vocoder-like sound/effect is pretty cool sounding.
The choice of instruments and sounds fits the mood and helps give it the nostalgic sound.
This is great. 100% cocking.

Jarski
SPACE BASE! That reminds me of Space Ace. Nice title.
Really cool that this seems to be made entirely chip sounds.
I think the percussion is really cool - I respect the use of the noise channel to create drums.
I like how this song seems to be quite simply contructed from the chip sounds - the arrangement is simple, but effective.
I like the atmosphere in this.

aptbr
Wow, holy shit, I really like the idea of making the whole entry with real instruments. This is very listenable too. I like the guitar playing, and the percussion is very good. I like the mood of this a lot. Sounds great.

GreyHooves
Haha, this is really cool. It's pretty silly sounding (the good kind of silly). Fun & creative. I like it.
Cool percussion and percussive sounds.
I like the choice of instruments.
I really like the part that starts at (1 / 1.69) into the song. That part is really fun.
There's just lots of fun & creative ideas in this.

The intro is some crazy shit man... Really appreciating the style in this one. This is cocked max. Cool stuff.
Cool sounds and interesting atmosphere. I like it.
Interesting vocal samples.

I agree with what Coral says. Big thanks to Starla and the Thasauce team for the compos.

I hope that the thasauce website will allow me to post all of this text.

A lot of excellent entries. I'm very happy that we got so many! Congrats to everyone who participated.

I decided to give my votes to the entries that did a better job blending destruction / insanity sounds with more musical components.

daisu64: a nicely crafted 9-bit entry, which felt very relevant to the theme, while still being very melodic. Great job!

Ironpug: good mix of sounds to create very rhythmic and dark atmosphere, somewhat reminiscent to Silent Hill.

OMNI: what a journey into gaming madness. Great sounds.

Sorry I didn't show up for the big 500...I was really looking forward to it. :( But nonetheless, I enjoyed these entries and I'm digging the new site look.

What I don't dig is...not knowing who to vote for, hmm

1) "Bliss-in-a-Game" - Loved it. Teach me your ways.

2) "mind kontrol ultra" - A sucker for simplistic chiptune, I am...

3) "A Game Called Polybius" - Yes...

I would elaborate + honourable mentions but the site is kind of freezing on me and I'm out of time. :(
