Really good compo. Excellent entries made it hard to pick winners.

Night Shade of Lavender was somehow the most evocative entry. It's hard to describe, but it expressed the sky's texture beautifully. A little weak in the end, but not bad on any front.

Velvet Skies would have been better if it were slightly more sonically consistent, and slightly less evocative of cheesy melodramas, but even so it was a polished entry.

Unravel is highly consistent with the theme, if one allows for a little extrapolation, and the smoothly delivered lyrics are always a clear bonus.

Tough session to judge all around. I wish I had more votes to give.

Good round. There were many fine contenders I wanted to vote for.

1) "Velvet Skies" - Well I'm a sucker for lovely piano, and it pairs well with everything here. Some parts feel almost like a Ghibli instrumental, and overall I love the beautiful, calming emotions that truly enhance the images.

2) "Night Shade of Lavender" - I like the noise as well as the atmosphere. This evokes night-time for me, and the faster notes evoke moving clouds. Very well done! I would have liked it to end a bit more conclusively, instead of clipping the last note.

3) "unravel" - The mixing of the introduction and the first verse is beautiful, thematic and chilling. The second half, while I do like the harmonies, I will admit that the autotune does make them sound more robotic than chorus-like, which I feel like would have made it more lovely.

---

Close contenders were:

"Sunset Lake Victoria" - Very nice sounds and percussion. It feels a bit too heavy to be thematic imo.

"Amethyst Space" - I like that first lead; it pairs very nicely when played in parallel with the guitar. There were just a few minor issues I had with the little out of tune bits as well as the blip in the beginning.

"For As Long As There Is A Sky" - Notation wise, this is actually quite lovely. The reversed(?) notes in this are great too. There's a bit too much buzz for me, though. And some of the transitions are a bit wonky, as well as the fact that it ends a tad too abruptly.

I also enjoyed Patashu and jarski's work.

Suzumebachi: magnificent! this is chill-inducing. The good chills. The stereo water sounds, the perfect guitar, the beat. Excellent job.

Koekepan: super relaxing and pretty entry. Felt somewhat magical, too.

GLL: some great piano playing here. At times I'd preferred for the piano to be alone, as the strings weren't adding that much. Flute was cool.

obScene: cute entry! good chords and good beat. The ending felt too abrupt, as those strings at the end were quite promising.

Random-storykeeper: good job with the noises and drums, this entry sounds very full. Nice tunes, although at times I felt it was developing too fast.

starla: the intro reminded me of Hooverphonic, which is a good thing. Usually I like your harmonies, but this time I felt the harmonies were distracting.

awesum: GLL, Koekepan, obScene, Random-storykeeper, starla, Suzumebachi.
good: Arcana, jarski, Patashu, Yoshiblade.
