APZX - The most consistently professional-sounding of all the submissions, but man can you turn that bass drum down? It's coming through a bit too strong for me.

hoboka - Wow! This is really good. A huge step up from the last remix of yours I heard (the one from mnp 71). I was really close to ranking this in first as I thought it captured the mnp theme the best, but two things held me back. (1) the voice you're using for the high notes from 1:23-1:34 is a little out of tune, and (2) the violin in the next section is also a little out of tune, and that part is really crying out for samples with longer sustain. I'm not sure what samples you're using, but check out the Sonatina rompler if you haven't yet http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?plugin=Sonatina_Orchestra_Module&id=2541

Anyway, great mixing and great overall job. I'll also point out that I especially liked the handclaps use at 1:35. I thought that worked really well.

Silverpool - Man, this is really dark and evil sounding. Very interesting take. I really like the piano part you've got going on under everything else, but the dissonance and harshness of pretty much everything else makes it tough for me to listen to.

Dex - Solid MnP track, I really appreciate the dynamics and breaks. Great guitar work too. "Roar of the Jungle" has the best soundscape that matches the original's feel perfectly.

APZX - Great touch with the synth work. I think "Briar Outburst" may have been a tad too laid back to be MnP, but I really love the reverby percussion hits and the pitch-bending synthwork. I found Dex's to be a bit better than "Briar Outburst", in terms of enjoyment value, production and MnP guidelines. I don't wanna come off as being a wanker, because I WANTED to put you in first APZX, but I know that Dex's is more developed and fitting to the original source tune.

Silverpool - This is horrendously off-key, I can't ignore this glaring issue. The piano seems to be an entirely different key....this is a shame, because the synths work really well, at least if they were on their own. But that piano backing...hooooo boy, that is...not good. Reminds me of my very first remix, when I tried to remix the victory theme of FF. You'll probably want to practice fine-tuning your ear Silverpool - as this remix was very unpleasantly dissonant. Otherwise it would've been an alright remix.

Hoboka's was just to me the most inventive in terms of what was done, and it wasn't distorting like some of his previous entries I've looked at.

Dex's while overall clearly the best sounding of the available entries, to me didn't do a whole lot of interpretation beyond slowing it down a bit.

Silverpool's for a first attempt I gotta give this some props. Lots of issues with harmonies though is primarily what did it for me.

First compo vote ever! Let's see how this goes.

APZX, Dex, and hoboka: Great job! I really liked all of your entries! Here's some newbie thoughts:

APZX:
I liked both of the lead synths you used at 0:29 and 1:07.

Dex:
I noticed most of your instruments are strings.

hoboka:
I especially like the beginning. I visualized a tropical rainforest.
At 1:01, I like how you relocated the chime/bell part of the source.

Thanks for listening to my very first ReMix. I've already learned a lot!
