Dex - Dueling Strings
I can almost imagine this mix playing in the background of a slice of life anime. I particularly enjoyed those background piano stabs, and how well that worked with the dueling violin parts. My primary issue is with either the mixing or the sample -- the violin seems too...loud? Not sure if that's exactly it, but it exists in both this version and the "remastered" version posted on the forum.

Flurry of Flames - Take Your Time
I enjoyed this mellow take on the source! However, I felt like it was slightly too repetitive, seeming like it was planning to go somewhere but then decided not to. In particular, the repeating 6 staccato piano notes felt a bit grating after a while.

Some great entries this round. Was really hard to choose.

Heart of the Cards - FreakyT: Love the jazzy piano interpretation on this track. I envision sailing on a boat with a summer breeze on my back. Absolutely beautiful, fantastic job!

Dueling Strings - Dex: I didn't think the strings were that rough. Like where everything sits in the mix. You kept the drive of the original and added a lot of nuance to each layer.

Take Your Time - Flurry of Flames: Man, everyone went the chill route. Lol You did a great job with this track. The guitar lead reminded me of something from Animal Crossing: Wild World. A little less interpretive than the other entries, but still great none the less. Good job.

FreakyT - Enjoyed the live performance. The tempo you chose felt a little too low for what you actually wanted to do, though. There were several places where the piano part was rushing (and sounded good at its tempo!) but the drum part held it back and revealed how rushed it really was. I wonder if the piece would have been better without the drum part. That would have allowed you to be a little looser with the piano part without it being noticeable.

Flurry of Flames - Nice idea and good use of pads. I didn't like the acoustic guitar samples used, though. They're too percussive on every note. Look into mixing in some legato slides or hammer-ons instead. Actually, I think this piece could have also benefited from a drum part. Also, the piece sounded a bit robotic, both in terms of note velocities on the piano and note timings overall. Consider humanizing these.

Flurry of Flames - Very calm and pieceful song. The guitar did a great job
Dex - This is a more energetic version of the source.
FreakyT - Liked the piano, especially the combination with the kick on the background. Nice ending.
