JerryTerry - This is pretty lo-fi, but with a poise of nostalgic video game music without sounding too chippy. It takes all the good things about the original and presents them in a way that feels complete.

Gario - Gario always offers a competent, fluent contribution to compos and I have no complaints about what was done here. I merely felt the style JerryTerry chose was a more effective interpretation of the original.

NintenJoe64 - I would've liked to give this one a higher placing for it's interesting break downs like around :33 (gnarly orchestra hit type sound) and after 1:55 where it gets a bit wild. The presentations of the main theme just suffer from some clutter.

Another successful compo... Let's see what we got :).

1st JerryTerry's "Reasonably Mediocre" - I liked the chiptune effects in the beginning, and damnit are those Mario Land references? Why didn't I think of that? Even if it was unintentional, it was brilliant.

It's a bit repetitive, overall, but it's pleasing to my ears, nonetheless. You get first.

2nd Jabond's "Fruity Labor" - Heh, I was totally expecting some shredding guitar, but you surprised me with some electronica music. The beats feel off, and while it corrects itself I tend to feel a bit disconcerted by it.

To your advantage, though, you certainly were the most liberal of the three submissions (that's a good thing) but I feel the production was a bit subpar, for you. Of course, I've never heard a pure electronic piece from you, either, so you could be learning the ins and outs of it all.

Not bad, especially for a first compo submission - just not first place. Next time, Mr. Jabond.

Also, PROTODOME rules, this time, not WILLROCK, lol.

Gario's just seemed a little smoother and nicer. Plus it was the closest to the source.

Gario - Funny start. The main lead (especially around 0:32) is a little irritating and too loud at some points. The song is good for the rest.
JerryTerry - I like the way you start the song, very chippy samples. I don't like the kick in the begin (and around 1:24). I like the 'string' around 1:08. The song is variating in a nice way, but some parts are too long.
Nintenjoe64 - The piano is really nice. The next part is a little noisy, but still interesting. I'm not a fan of the part around 0:37, the next part is better. The section around 1:15 is too noisy again, the last part as well. I like the idea from this song.

Gario's gets first, JerryTerry gets second (I liked it a lot, but it felt like it lasted a little longer than it should have), and NintenJoe64 gets last.

AWESOME! I loved the tracks. Right, I'll go last to first.

NintenJoe64-
What hindered the track for me was the timing- it felt really out of time- well the drums did. Starts off quite good then it sorta feels like each part is in it's own time. Shame, because it was quite a nice arrangement with some awesome ideas.

JerryTerry-
Urm, where did you come from?! That was really good! It shows that postcount is COMPLETELY misleading to musicianship. Live guitar + chiptune = AWESOME! ^o^ I felt the production on this could've been better- where was the panning and rich soundscape? Arrangement was killer in places and a little repetitive in others- overall good! Looking forward to more stuff from you!! ^o^

Gario-
Nice. Liberal, yet close enough to the source- I hear a few more chords thrown in there too (obviously). No analysis of what they are- I'm too tired. I really like the abrupt changes too- back to the intro riff. Mastering was pretty much spot on- perhaps the main lead was a little loud but I enjoyed it lots! It sorta captured the feel of the original the best I think.

Anyway, loved the entries- always nice to hear your mix Remixed. Cool stuff! Looking forward to remixing next month's source!
