Good stuff! It's unsportsmanlike to vote for myself (I think, right?) Plus with only 2 entries, it's not much of a competition. But good stuff nonetheless, and I had fun. I don't really care about winning.

Seldom Said- I really liked what you did with the source material here, you took it and developed into something new without changing too much of meaning. Great production techniques too!

This took me longer... - I liked your latin, influenced feel on this one. However, maybe it was the samples, but I felt that the instruments sounded a little bit GM and could have done a bit more EQ or effects to make them seem more real. The song could have had more development on the theme as well. You started out strongly but you end up more or less just copying verbatim the source material towards the end. Overall it was still a good remix, and yeah I can totally understand that this would have taken awhile, it's the same when I remix tunes...but that's why we do this so we can to learn and improve : )

Rationaljeff - Interesting try-outs. I like the 'things' you tried in the begin. The bassline isn't varying and dominating the song too much. Nice drums. The song changes too much halfway. Not so good silent gab at 2:53.
HeWhoIsIAm - I like the sampling. The song is in a good balance, the drums are good as well. The end is a bit weird and abrupt.

Well, this was interesting - these two mixes represent two extreme interpretations, and I was at a loss as to which was better or worse (which it took me a few days to decide). However...

1st - Rationaljeff - Seldom Said

This was the extreme of 'Too little source', but after listening to it a few times I noticed the middle of it has enough source to make me feel alright with voting for it. Great production, by the way.

2nd - Hewhoisiam - title is too long, dude :P

This is the extreme of 'Too close to the source', but this isn't OC, so I don't really care :). The production was a little skimpy, though (as I'm sure your aware of), and the end was a bit off with the harmonies (I don't care if they're the same as the source or not, but I feel what you had towards the end just sounded dissonant and odd). While I appreciate your music here I didn't feel it was the first place submission. Maybe next time :).

Willrock isn't here... I guess that means the Willrock/Gario streak is over. I guess changing it up here is a good thing for the compo - it'll be nice, for the change of pace :).

The drum programming is interesting hewhoisiam, but I think the overall production is thin, and there was not enough remixing done.

My vote took longer than it looks like. In this case, I guess less is more.

hewhoisiam gets first place and rationaljeff gets second. I would have liked to see more entries for this, especially since people had three weeks to submit their songs.
