As you can tell from my discord posts, i stupidly forgot to realize DST was in effect at the time in America, so not only did i miss compo, i missed it by a whole HOUR! I was wondering why party was over, because it wasn't even 3:31, and the party barely had even gone to 40 minutes. As a result of all this, i couldn't submit, so i ended up sharing it on discord instead. Since i was there when people were listening, i don't need to reply to feedback. I can talk about it though, since people did listen to it, but it unfortunately won't be voted on. I have this habit a lot when it comes to compo's and DST. But we can all universally agree DST sucks ass. That's something that shouldn't be news to you. Anyways, at the end of the day, i was late by an hour, and i need to plan ahead to make sure i'm in on time. Oh well, let's hope OHC683 i can submit without any problems. Hope you liked my entry anyways.

TheVideoGamer - As the name suggests, i called it Hiking EP on the basis they're are 4 tracks, each in a different style, all following along one and another. None of these tracks last longer than about 1:20, and each one isn't fully developed as such, just mere simple tracks, because my first idea couldn't be expanded upon, so i just made a sudden ending, and that became track one. The rest follows along from that.

Key things to note about each "part":

The first one is noted for a more live drum kit approach.

The second one features breakbeats and a intricate synth lead.

The third is a fast DnB/Synth-Rock hybrid thing.

The last track is a slowed down ambient downtempo piece with lots of reverb on sampled recordings of tracks. Again none of these tracks are detailed, because they were made in a short period of time. But i'm glad people liked it, especially me, really happy with the results here.

Shame it can't be voted on, but oh well i have to look forward eh?

Let's move onto the rest of the entries yes?

Lyra_183 - Really nice voice, you seem to kind of make a good opener for these compos lol, it kind of just works. Great singing, good job!

DarkShadow - DarkShadow Untz time. Your track is useful for me, to determine how loud the compo is going to be, and when to adjust my headphones lol. Really nice melodies in this one, got that balance of intense bass and strong lead melodies. A bit short and not as memorable unfortunately, but good job!

Koekepan - Bring on the minimalism. Very nice plucks, lovely stereo panning. Great effects going on here, very nice use of risers to denote the windy feel, it's very calming. The kick almost tries to bring it into a polyrhythm, but it's actually just a delay. Now i've heard a lot of your minimalism approaches, and personally this one is admittedly a weaker one of yours. Maybe the lack of thick dense chords might be why, it's mostly single note pads, playing primarily textures (Taste is personal). It's overall melody/harmony though is seriously good and the best part for sure, so don't take it as a negative. All in all, good job!

cotmm68030 - Daaaam this is completely leftfield from the theme. I guess that Meat Beat Manifesto spirit got into you. Either that or the NIN usual. Honestly i dig this a lot, the vibes were pretty....awesome actually. Like i don't usually listen to this genre (Although i have looked my fair-share of artists), i do love what you've done here. The distortion is very masterfully done (No accidental mistakes here), and the drums were banging. Well done!

Souperion - The Soup Rock returns, this time without drums, which like you've said is a time issue. Makes sense since you only have an hour. Great melodies as usual, and lovely guitar work. I will admit the drums kind of make a difference here. It's not so much i've been conditioned to expect drums, but rather the lacking part gets amplified, because of it. I still love the rest though, so good job!

Misael.K - Really nice airy chords. Very simplistic, but has a lot of cool augmented chords for a nice effect. Very spacious, reminds me of Koekepan a bit. Super lovely chords, deep sub bass. The second half is even better, because despite it being the same chords, i love the instrumentation used. Honestly everything's there, nothing bad to be heard. Well done!

DDRKirby(ISQ) - Naah bro this can't be. This is nowhere near the bad commercial music i hear on a daily basis. It sounds waaaaayyyy too good. Like if you put this on my T.V i would be jamming to this a lot. This is nowhere near generic. I'm sorry, but it's not. The guitar and light synths, are just beyond beautiful, and super fitting to the theme. I know you think i'm a bit gullible, because i totally let the idea go over my head, but seriously, i'm probably the only one who really loves this, it's super groovy. Incredible work!

Barley - Nice bass guitar riff. Seems like it goes into the mix quite a bit. Get's more and more into the mix, rather than stuck out, as you listen though, so it's not a big one. Honestly the only thing i can take away from this, is the drums are practically, non-existent. In fact i had to re-listen to even discover drums lol. I think i see what your trying to do, and personally it's not for me, but some might like the idea. The over-repetitive nature of the vocal is a bit much for me, but good job!

Ethansight - Ethansight always got that sub game. Nice breakbeat motion here, great slow developer, really feels like it starts of constrained and minimal, then the chords expand, and the whole thing slowly comes to life, it's like a bloom of a flower. Not a fan of the main synth lead personal, the melody isn't really dynamic, mostly 2-3 notes, and it ends as it's about to begin, but it was a very fun listen, good job!

NickC - Super lovely pad, definately my kind of pad. Great chords, kind of got an eastern influence, which is an interesting approach for this theme. Not saying it's bad, but it is a different idea than i thought. Lovely Psytrance beats, really brings the vibe, it's super strong here. As with Ethansight's, you really develop it, just as the piece ends, however it's mostly because of how abrupt the ending is. I also feel towards the end, more could be potentially used, as a means for expansion. It's lovely as is sure, but with more i feel it could really elevate it. With this in mind, i was thinking about putting you in needs work, but then i re-listened, and i felt, i might have overstated my comment. It still needs more to it sure, but as of now, well done!

coloradoweeks - Wow i love these chords. It's not just major or minor, it's like a whole host of complex 7th chords, it's very cool. I love the harmony in this soo much. Honestly the only thing missing is a cool bassline. It's lacking a bass, but besides that everything was pretty much awesome, great grooves, lovely singing and lyric-writing. Huge amount of fun, well done!

eva - Like with mine, you unfortunately did not make it to submission. I assume it was the dreaded DST thing, like i got? The drums are huge in contrast to beats i've heard from you before. Have you changed DAWS or something, they sound great! The guitar playing is also clearer here, and the singing is also not masked, it's at a lovely volume! (Minus maybe a few times it goes above the threshold). All going awesome, until the distorted guitar, turned what could have been your best entry ever, into a bit of a loud chaotic mess. It was a bit too distorted for me, and noisy, and really took out the flow. It just needs toning down, not necessarily gotten rid of. It doesn't mean the track is all bad though, just when it arrived, it was very jarring. Good job though!

JH Sounds - The classic JH major chord tune returns, but with a lot of cool spices thrown in. Doesn't make it fully minor, but really kind of adds a bit of a blues feel to it. Great lyric writing as always, a fun tune indeed. Well done!

Arcana - Trance Arcana this week. I can sense a bit of playing in the organ, it feels a bit of in timing areas, however it's not major. The beat is groovy, and the chords are really good. The vocals seem more of a background element, than a major element for me, but i will say taste is personal, so someone else might think differently. The second half is better than the first, because there is developments in the harmony, rather than static pad chords. Again when you have an hour, you do what you can. Still though, really nice work here, good job!

DJhon - Oooh what lovely piano playing. I love me a good song, with just a piano and a voice, it's simple but effective playing. You always just sing sooo well, you are personally my favourite voice in all of the compo's combined. You sing like a profession, i can't believe it. The piano is super well mic'd and mixed with the voice. Just absolutely beautiful, even in it's simplicity, Awesome work!

obScene - I always have a good feeling, your entries are gonna be awesome, and i was absolutely right. This is beyond gorgeous. Your taking elements of a chord, to make a simple flowing one note harmonic movement, topped with beautiful emotional strings. Tt fits the theme super well. This is just another excellent entry from you. WHY IT'S ONLY 1 MINUTE IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY, I WAS HOPING FOR 3 MINUTES. Anyways, incredible work!

Top 3 - obScene, DDRKirby(ISQ), DJohn

Both of these entries were awesome too, and needed a spot on the list:
